Sylvia Wiegel brings to her practice at FGI not only her first-hand understanding of the struggles of immigrants but also many years of experience running her own solo immigration practice. “I realize,” she says, “that all people, no matter their country of origin, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, race or political views, share the same basic needs and desires for a better life.”
At FGI, Sylvia assists clients in the engineering, financial, health care, industrial and manufacturing, and IT sectors. She has extensive experience in H-1, L-1 O, and R visas as well as family-based immigration and consular processing. As she avers, “I treat all foreign nationals with the kind of respect I expect for myself. I care about the needs and concerns of my clients, and I establish great personal relationships with them.”
A graduate of the University of Michigan in political science, Sylvia earned her law degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law with a cum laude distinction. She has traveled extensively (Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, France, Hungary, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Greece, and others), and is fluent in the Macedonian and Serbian languages. Sylvia also enjoys volunteering for FIRST FRC Robotics events as well as serves on the annual Knight Auction Committee and Treasure Hunt Committee for University Liggett School. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, physical fitness, traveling, and singing.
