Increased Guarantee Deposits

The guarantee deposits required for foreign nationals has

significantly increased in Costa Rica. The deposit is a fee paid to

the authorities to ensure the cost of deporting or repatriating the

foreign national, if necessary.

Fees range in increases from $ 300 USD to $ 4,800 USD, depending

on the nationality. Temporary and Permanent Residence Visas,

Residence Change of Status, and Restricted Entry Visa cases that

have already been filed and pending approval, will be required to

pay the new established amount upon case approval.

Employers who may be affected are encouraged to contact FGI for

case-specific advice.

The content of this article is intended to provide a general

guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought

about your specific circumstances.
