Randa Asfar’s passion for immigration law is rooted in her and her family’s experiences as refugees from the Middle East. “Seeing the endless support and help that we received,” she says, “ignited my interest in practicing immigration law.” She sees her practice as bringing comfort to those navigating the legal immigration process. Randa gained considerable experience as a law student where she worked at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School’s Immigration Clinic and Advanced Immigration Clinic. As she recalls, “I saw the relief that clients experienced when their cases were resolved efficiently and knew that it was my purpose to continue providing this type of support in my career.”
At FGI, Randa is responsible for working with clients in the IT and engineering industries. She has experience with both immigrant (EB-2, EB-3) and nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, L-1B). Currently, her focus is on the PERM Labor Certification Process, Adjustment of Status cases, H-1Bs, and L-1Bs.
A graduate of Oakland University and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Randa has been admitted to the State Bar of Michigan. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Oakland University Alumni Association, and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law Alumni Association. In her spare time, Randa enjoys reading poetry and philosophy, creative writing, spending time with family and friends, volunteering with local organizations, and mentoring students seeking to go to law school. Randa sums up her approach to immigration law by saying, “I strive to make sure that clients are both heard and understood, so that their needs are a priority. Making sure that clients feel supported is the key to a successful case.”
