Foreign nationals working in the Netherlands as knowledge migrants can now remain in the country for a period of three months after their employment contract has ended while their residence permit is still valid. Regardless of the reasons of the termination of the employment contract, migrant workers will be able to search for other recognized sponsor jobs.
A knowledge migrant worker was able to look for other jobs only if the employment contract was terminated for reasons not by the assignee. If the foreign national finds a recognized sponsor job within the three month period, starting the day the employment contract ended, the Immigration and Naturalization Service will not withdraw the residence permit. This will allow the knowledge migrant worker to search for other jobs even while on a residence permit even if they ended the employment contract themselves.
