Beginning March 23, 2017, the Luxembourg Parliament will implement the European Union (EU) Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Directive, which will replace the current ICT rules.
The EU Intra Company Transfer permit will allow foreign nationals holding ICT permits issued by other EU member nations to use that permit for assignments in Luxembourg at an entity of the same corporate group for 90 days without further work and residence authorization.
The EU ICT Permit will be eligible for managers and experts that have been employed by the sending company for at least three to twelve months and eligible for trainees that have been employed by the sending company for at least three to six months.
For assignments longer than 90 days, the foreign national must apply for an ICT permit in Luxembourg, valid for a duration up to three years for managers and experts, and one year for trainees. Once implemented, the processing time of the ICT Permit is expected to be from 8-10 weeks.
